King Of Promises Akufo-Addo To Implement Free Tertiary Education When Re-elected

The President of Ghana Nana Akufo Addo has been tagged as ‘King Promise’ due to his frequent habit of making audacious promises in his attempt to change the fate of the country.

In his latest promise, the country’s First Gentleman has indicated that after the implementation of the ‘Free SHS’ programme, the next logical step for the government will be to entirely subsidize tertiary education in the country.

Akufo-Addo was speaking on Wontumi Fm, a station owned by the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Chairman Wontumi.

“What I’ve realised is that countries that are leading in development began by investing in the education of their people and that helped a lot,” Akufo-Addo said.

“I don’t want to give a timeline [for free tertiary education] but I’m sure it’s possible. For now what has been put in place is a system where students at the tertiary level are provided loans while in school to help them cater for their needs but we’re considering free Tertiary education too,”
