Several parts of Kenya will continue to experience generally sunny and dry conditions throughout September, the weatherman has said.

In an update on the weather outlook for September 2021, the Kenya Meteorological Department said that despite this being the case, some parts will experience near-average to above-average rainfall.

They include; the Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Central Rift Valley and some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, as well as Nairobi County.

Counties within these regions are likely to experience slightly above long-term average rainfall characterised by occasional showers and thunderstorms during the month.

The rainfall is also expected to be above average in the third week and near average for the rest of the month.

Northwestern Kenya-Turkana, West Pokot and Samburu counties are likely to experience sunny and dry weather conditions throughout the month, except for areas bordering Uganda and Southern Sudan which will experience occasional rainfall.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley-Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Embu, Meru and Tharaka-Nithi counties and Nairobi are likely to experience sunny and dry weather conditions for most of the month.

Occasional afternoon showers and cloudy conditions in the mornings are also expected, especially during the first three weeks.

The Coast-Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale and Tana River counties will experience generally dry weather conditions with occasional light morning showers.

Northeastern Kenya-Marsabit, Isiolo, Wajir, Mandera, and Garissa counties; the Southeastern Lowlands-Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Kajiado and Taita Taveta counties to experience generally sunny and dry weather conditions throughout the month.

This comes a day after the Kenya Meteorological Department in a seven-day weather forecast (September 14-20) indicated that there will be moderate to heavy rainfall over several parts of the country.
