Will Smith has admitted that he once had such an unhealthy relationship with sex that he would become physically ill from intercourse.
Smith opened up about his struggles with romance and sexual relationships in his new memoir Will, citing the failure of his relationship with a woman named Melanie as a turning point in his life that generated his unhealthy sexual practices.
Melanie, who remains largely unidentified, cheated on Smith while he was touring for his music career, the award-winning rapper wrote. He says that in an effort to recover, he turned to wanton, casual sex.
“I had sex with so many women, and it was so constitutionally disagreeable to the core of my being, that I developed a psychosomatic reaction to having an orgasm,” Smith wrote. “It would literally make me gag and sometimes even vomit.”
“I desperately need relief but as there is no pill for heartbreak, I resorted to the homeopathic remedies of shopping and rampant sexual intercourse,” Smith wrote.
“Up until this point in my life, I had only had sex with one woman other than Melanie,” he explained. “But over the next few months, I went full ghetto hyena.”
Smith said that while he and Melanie eventually overcame the infidelity, the relationship concluded with a brutal and nasty argument.
Smith’s memoir also touches heavily on the sex life of him and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, whom he describes as unsatisfied with his performance.
“We drank every day, and had sex multiple times every day, for four straight months. I started to wonder if this was a competition.” Smith wrote. “Either way, as far as I was concerned, there were only two possibilities: (1) I was going to satisfy this woman sexually, or (2) I was going to die trying.”
