I Motivate The Youth Through My ‘Marijuana’ Songs

Uptown Energy hitmaker, Yaa Pono has denied various allegations leveled against him that he is championing the course of smoking through his music. A lot of people have been bashing the ‘Obia Wo Ne Master’ hitmaker for motivating the youth to smoke through his songs.

During an interview with with Amansan Krakye on GBC Radio Central monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Yaa Pono said that, most of his songs are basically to motivate the youth rather than encouraging smoking.

“I’m not sure people see me as ganja ambassador but mostly I do such songs for the street. I did a song titled highgrade so most of the people play it at the ghettos”, he revealed

It has motivational words in it that’s why they love it and not because it’s about wee. I didn’t even say in the song that anyone should go and smoke but I said if I get I will smoke. So it’s not for radio play but for the streets because every year I drop a song for the streets.”, he said

He also indicated that although his songs may have some people thinking he is encouraging smoking, most of his fans know that is not his real motive of doing his songs.
