Robbery And Rape Suspect Who Broke Out of Jail In Eldoret Arrested

A suspect linked to multiple crimes in Eldoret who successfully broke himself out of jail has now been arrested and put back into police custody.

According to the police report, Humphrey Shilisia who is robbery and rape suspect was apprehended on Friday, July 24 after his escape on the night of Tuesday, July 21.

Police Commander Francis Warui of Kapseret Sub-County confirmed the incident saying they had previously launched a manhunt for the suspect.

A police officer who was on duty the night the suspect took off has also been arrested for questioning on how the said suspect escaped under his watch.

His bosses now say he will be disciplined and then prosecuted as he lacks an explanation on the incident.

“The police officer assigned to guard him on the night he escaped will face disciplinary action and will be prosecuted,” Officer Warui said.

Sources indicate that following the break out of jail, residents including witnesses and victims in the case feared for their lives.

As a reaction strategy, they protested by demonstrating, crying out to the police to go after the suspect until he was re-arrested.

The officers vowed to not let their guards down until justice is served.
