A 32-year-old man has shocked many after admitting that he sold his partner’s Sh. 5.7 million Toyota Land Cruiser Prado because of pocket money.

The man, who was identified as Paul Kihika said that he sold off the car because his lover refused to give him pocket money. When he was asked by the Milimani Chief Magistrate, Kihika admitted that he indeed committed the act.

“Did you tell the police what you’re telling me?” Kihika was asked by the magistrate.

“Yes I told the police but did not believe me,” he replied.

Court documents show that between February 5, 2021 and April 3, 2021 at Nairobi County, Paul Kihika stole a motor vehicle registration number KCF 656X make Prado Land Cruiser valued at Sh. 5.7 million, which was the property of Hellen Akinyi Omiti.

Kihika had told the police that he had met Akinyi at a bar on Mombasa Road in 2019 and started a relationship with her.

He also said that he had been using the motor vehicle since they were in a relationship and in February 2021, Akinyi sent him to supervise the renovation of her Shanzu house in Mombasa.

“I took her motor vehicle as usual which she fueled for me, and sent me Sh. 80,000 to carry out repairs of the car while in Mombasa,” he said in his statement.

While in Mombasa, they had an argument and Kihika decided to sell off the vehicle in order to solve some problems that he was facing.
