4 Chinese Men Deported For Mining On Land Meant For Building A School

Four Chinese nationals seized in Ghana for unlawful mining will not face charges in the country. This comes after a Kumasi High Court ordered their immediate deportation.

Shi Li Wen, Huang When Jun, Li De Hao, and Lan Hai Song were detained for mining gold on a disputed 40-acre plot of property in Adaase, Obuasi municipality, according to graphic.com.gh.

They were detained, along with a Ghanaian accomplice, Asamoah Kati, for mining on property set aside for educational purposes.

The four were imprisoned on June 3, 2021, by the Kumasi High Court, presided over by His Lordship, Justice E. Senyo Amedahe, for failing to fulfill a bail requirement of GHC200,000.00 each with two sureties.

While in jail, they fraudulently tried to renew their documents.

“For the above reason, the court will not be in the position, legally to accept their passports as a condition of granting them bail and asking them to be attending court as illegal immigrants,” the judge said.
