Rihanna Donates $5 Million to Help Combat Coronavirus

Celebrated singer Rihanna born Robyn Rihanna Fenty has hugely contributed to the global efforts to fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Through her Clara Lionel Foundation, it was announced on Saturday, March 21, she donated $5 Million which will go into helping rapid response efforts in both the United States and across the world.

Clara Lionel Foundation cited groups such as Direct Relief, Partners in Health, The World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and also International Rescue Committee as among some which will get the aid.

According to E-Entertainment, Rihanna’s charity will also support food banks to supply food to vulnerable communities and the elderly.

Countries such as Haiti and Malawi will benefit from the funding by the acceleration of testing and offering care units which will go into mobilising resources and supporting native communities by training, and provision of equipment.

The foundation also hopes to help establish intensive care units and also the acceleration of getting a vaccine for the virus.

Never has it been more important or urgent to protect and prepare marginalised and underserved communities, those who will be hit hardest by this pandemic,” Justine Lucas, the executive director – Clara Lionel Foundation, said.

Rihanna’s foundation was founded back in 2012 in honour of her grandparents Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.
