Celebrated Ghanaian actress, Vivian Jill Lawrence has vowed never to play roles of a “maame water,” which is local parlance for an evil mermaid.
Maame water is an evil mermaid who uses her striking beauty to get what she wants, according to African folklores. The actress, based on her looks, has always been the right person to play such roles if any.
According to the ravishing actress, she made her decision based on an encounter with a kid when she entered a house.
Speaking to Nana Romeo on Accra FM, she disclosed that upon reaching the compound, the little kid who had seen movies of Jill as ‘maame water’ started to scream and fell unconscious out of shock.
Since then, she began turning down roles which would have her play as ‘maame water.’
