The four times English Premier League winner and former Chelsea star Didier Drogba and Cameroon Football Association President Samwel Eto’o are set to attend Africities summit which kicks off today in Kisumu.
Drogba will represent his country while Eto’o, a former Barcelona and Inter Milan super star will be attending the event as the representative of Cameroon Football Association.
In a brief phone interview this morning with Kisumu County sports CEC Achy Alai, it was noted that several other big names in sports and entertainment industry will be taking part in the summit – Lupita Nyong’o who is the brand ambassador for the 9th africities event being one of them.
“Sports clinics will be done in local football academies and local clubs in Kisumu by the legends,” Achy added.
Drogba and Eto’o are expected to give a talk in relation to football and sports management in general. This comes at a time when Kenya is suspended by FIFA from all her activities due to government interference.
Etoo was recently seen in Malindi with his family where he was reported to have come for a vacation.
The event will be officially launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
African high representative on infrastructure who is also a presidential hopeful under Azimio La Umoja Raila Odinga will also have a session during the summit.
