Speaking on Thursday, Duale said Kenyans willing to join KDF will receive equal chances.

He, however, added that those willing must meet the KDF recruitment requirements.

“Joining KDF is different from joining other public institutions because there are exceptional requirements needed,” he said at Citizen TV.

“The measuring of height in KDF has been put as reforms but not that much. We still have short people in KDF but there is a short height that we cannot accept because of the parade and carrying of weapons.”

He said most people do not know the requirements during the recruitment and therefore end up failing.

“Some people do not know what is needed whether it is age or weight. People fail due to their weight, you may be required during training to carry some heavy weight may be and if your weight is less you may end up dying,” he said.

The CS said that recruitment in KDF will be equal and balanced in all counties.

Duale said that Kenyans should give him a chance to fight corruption during recruitment.

He added that there will be no tolerance for corrupt leaders and activities in the ministry.

The CS said KDF has incorporated more women than in the past years.

Duale said he has witnessed many women joining KDF and rising the ranks.
