Ghana’s Education Minister, Dr. Mattew Opoku Prempeh has brought smiles on the faces of Ghanaian teachers after announcing that the government is introducing a Professional Teacher Allowance (PTA) of GHc1,200 per year for professional teachers and GHc600 per year for non-professional teachers to deepen their commitment and spur professional growth.

The initiative is basically to help in the skills acquisition of teachers in order to keep them abreast of modern trends and help improve the teaching and learning process.

Dr Prempeh stated this when he presented a statement on education and teacher reforms in Parliament yesterday.
