Suspect, 40, Hits Rock And Dies While Running Away From KFS Police

A 40 year old suspect who was running away from Kenya Forest Service officers in Suba South, Homa Bay County hit a rock while at it and died on the spot.

According to news reports, Dominic Obura in the company of two other suspects were illegally cutting down trees and burning charcoal when the officials caught them in the act.

According to Chief Fredrick Hassan, one of the suspects was arrested and taken to Magunga Police Station.

However, Obura and the third suspect fled although the latter was not found.

The body of Obura was moved and taken to the Sindo Sub-County Hospital.

In an almost similar incident back in May 2020, a 22-year-old Victor Kiprono was running away from the police when he died.

A source indicate that Kiprono was carrying some poles when he spotted the cops.

The report indicates that cops allegedly started running after him.

Kiprono allegedly reached an end point when he came across a swollen river and decided to swim across it just to avoid “arrest.”

However, he was swept away by the waters and died.

One of the witnesses during this tragic incident claimed that the officers must have neglected to help the victim when he was crying for help while drowning.
