The Standard Group has announced mass lay off among it’s employees.
In a letter sent out to all staff by the C.E.O Joe Munene, the move was triggered by the need for a leaner structure.
Standard Group director Julius Kipng’etich attributed the loss to a challenging business environment.
Partly the memo reads
“This is to notify all staff members of the company’s intention to declare redundancies affecting employees across all departments. The affected employees will be duly informed in writing. The process has been necessitated by the restructuring of the business to adopt a leaner, more efficient structure and shifting trends in media consumption occasioned by the technological changes in the digital environment,”
In recent years Kenyan media houses have been laying off people due to changing trends in the industry and decreased profits.
