Safaricom, Bob Collymore’s ‘Boys Club’ Pay Tribute Year After His Death

Today marks a year since the ex-Safaricom CEO, Bob Collymore passed on. His famous “boys club” visited his widow at their home to pay him tribute.

The 61-year-old Guyana national lost his battle to acute leukemia on July 1, 2019.

He is succeeded by his wife and their four children.

According to reports, the boys’ club which consists the departed’s close friends visited Wambui Kamiru Collymore on June 30.

Among Collymore’s close associates who were present is Jeff Koinange who shared a photo of the group with Kamiru during the homage.

One year later, our captain’s spirit lives on through his amazing wife, Wambui Kamiru and the boys club. Thanks for bringing us together, Wambui! We shall continue to keep celebrating Bob,” Jeff tweeted.

The other boys’ club members that showed up were Radio Africa Group boss Patrick Quarcoo, politician Peter Kenneth, Scangroup CEO Bharat Thakrar and KCB’s Joshua Oigara.

Safaricom, the East Africa’s telecommunications giant he led for nine years earlier today updated their profile picture to use Collymore’s photo on their Facebook page.

They also issued a statement to remember their former boss.

“While it is sad and difficult time for all of us, we take courage that his dream of doing business for good,  lives on in our work, our customers and our vision. Bob lived a purposeful life. He touched and transformed many lives within Safaricom and beyond,” the statement read.
