Quack doctor James Mugo alias Mugo wa Wairimu has been sentenced to 11 years in prison, or a fine of Ksh1.4 million for unlawfully operating a Pharmacy while not registered by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
Nairobi Senior Resident Magistrate Martha Nanzushi delivered the judgment on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, that the prosecution proved its case against the suspect.
Mugo wa Wairimu was found guilty of operating a medical laboratory without a license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Practitioners, operating a medical clinic without registration, and practicing as an unregistered nurse.
Mugo was first arrested and charged in 2015 at a Limuru hotel while on the run after he was exposed by NTV for allegedly raping a female patient at his Prestige Clinic in Githurai and illegally administering unknown drugs.
