Nana Addo Calls On Christians To Pray To Stop Spread Of Coronavirus And Heal The Sick

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on Christians to pray for a halt in the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

At a breakfast prayer session at the Presidency, Jubilee House on Thursday morning (March 19, 2020), President Akufo-Addo urged Christians to call on God, who he believes has the power to heal and restore Ghana.

“As a Christian, I know the divine healing power and the saving grace of the maker of heaven and the earth, our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Because in him we live, move and have our being”.

The President made the call when he led a breakfast prayer meeting with some key leaders of the Christian community at the Jubilee House to pray against the spread of novel coronavirus disease.

He emphasised the call by quoting Psalm 9 verse 10 and 2 Chronicles 7:14 in the Bible and said these are not ordinary times, and in such times the country, where the population is predominately Christian, must seek the face of the most high God for healing and restoration.

“So I humbly called you to this prayer meeting for us to join together and pray to the almighty God to protect the nation, heal this land and save us from this pandemic”.

Referring to James chapter 5 verses 14 and 15 also in the Bible which reads

“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up”, the president said he has a strong conviction that the prayers will help heal the nation and will help raise Ghana up.

“And I believe profoundly that we Ghanaian people we our faith in the almighty will overcome this challenge, this too will pass”, he assured.

The president also assured that although the country has recorded a few cases, measures have been put in place to curtail the spread of the disease.
