The quest for Champions League football for both Manchester United and Chelsea did not come on a silver platter as both teams had no option than to wait for their final games to know their fate in European football next season.

From the look of things, the first three spots for Champions League Football in the Premier League seemed to have been secured before the league restarted. However, successive losses by Leicester City Football Club saw the race for the top four wide open again.

However both Manchester United and Chelsea failed to fully capitalize on Leicester’s poor performance as both teams also dropped points at the latter parts of the season. This therefore meant that, both teams had to wait for the final match day to decide their fates.

Two Nil wins by both Manchester United and Chelsea against Leicester and Wolves saw both teams clinch a place in next season’s European elite Club Football competition.
