A 47-year-old man was robbed Ksh2.1 million on Friday, January 28, after making a stopover in Bumula, Bungoma County to have lunch.
A report that was filed at Butula Police Station indicated that John Oscar Juma withdrew 2 million fromalocalank in Busia town.
The victim reportedly placed the money in a bag and kept it in the boot of his car. Juma then drove towards Kisumu but along the way, he decided to have lunch at a hotel in Bumala.

“He realised that another bag that he had placed on the back seat was missing. The bag contained Ksh144,000 and some clothes that he had intended to use during his trip,” the report detailed.
He also discovered that the other bag[ containing 2 million] that he had placed in the boot could not be traced.
Juma reportedly went back to the hotel to inquire about his missing bags. He also requested access to the CCTV footage and noted that two men broke into his car, took the two bags and drove off.
The suspects had parked their car next to Juma’s and used a master key to open the door of his car.
Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal (DCI) Butula visited the scene, scanned the car for fingerprints and also interrogated Juma and the hotel staff.
