A 25-Year-Old Man Is In Coma After Attack By Two KDF Soldiers In Sotik

A 25-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was attacked and injured by two Kenya Defence Forces soldiers in Sotik.

Geoffrey Korir is in a coma at Kapkatet Hospital after he suffered multiple body injuries following the attack by the soldiers at Chebole trading centre.

It was not immediately established why the soldiers attacked the man but witnesses said the two appeared intoxicated.

“The soldiers are known to us. They live here in Sotik. They were violent and rowdy,” said Noah Langat, a resident.

Angry residents staged a protest on Thursday and barricaded the busy Sotik-Narok highway.

“We have given information about the two to the police. Every time the two soldiers are home they beat up young men they find on their way home after a drinking spree,” said Langat.

Sotik Sub-county Police Commander Francis Nganga said his officers have launched a manhunt for the officers.

“No one is above the law, we are looking for them,” he said. Chebole business community vice-chairman John Kirui said the two have been terrorising locals.

“We have no peace; the two attack us saying police cannot arrest them,” he said.
