Revealed! Fresh Faces of the K24 Newsroom

It has been revealed that K24 released an internal memo in which the firm revealed the names and faces of their freshest newsroom members.

According to Kenyans.co.ke, the TV station unveiled the information on Wednesday, June 17, weeks after some of the station’s iconic employees left.

The memo detailed the names and previous engagements of the three members that will be joining their staff.

  • Allan Owino

A Strathmore University alumnus with a degree in Business Information Technology.

He has been anchoring news at TV47.

Before that, Owino was an intern at Mabati Rolling Mills Ltd before joining the station in August 2019.

According to newsreports, TV47 is owned by Cape Media which was established by the same man that founded Mt. Kenya University, Prof Sam Gicharu.

  • Kariuki Gichira

Kariuki has garnered expertise from his many years in the industry.

He started off as a Senior Producer at Africa 24 Media between January 2012 and August 2015.

He then moved on to join the Standard Group Media where he dedicated 3 years to his role as Senior TV Producer.

He is known for his hand in the production of KTN’s The Entrepreneur, Ultimate Challenge, Tukuza and Dancing families.

He then accepted an offer at Switch TV as a news editor. He served until July 2019 when he became a Senior Content Producer at Africa Film Network.

Gicira graduated from Multimedia University of Kenya with a Diploma in Mass Communication and Media Studies.

She is yet another experienced journalist brought forth from Switch Media where she completed her year-long role as news editor between August 2018 and July 2019.

She began her career at Goodnews Broadcasting System in 2010. She was a Video Editor, anchor and TV producer until 2015 when she left the company for Africa 24 Media for a TV producer role.

She was poached from the firm by the Standard Media Group and then moved on to Switch Media.

Makena is pursuing a degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies at St. Paul’s University.
