The family of Kenyan Instagram model Brenda Akinyi who died in Malaysia has dismissed rumours that she was a drug trafficker.
It had been reported that the law graduate succumbed to an accidental overdose of a hard drug whilst flying to malaysia. Unsubstantiated claims suggest that she was ferrying ingested capsules of a hard drug which accidentally got into her system, causing her to instantaneously overdose.
Brenda Akinyi’s sister Ameli Jones shared that the model was ill and on 15th April she was admitted at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur.
Brenda was admitted for medical care but after a while her health deteriorated and she required a ventilator to help her breath.ย
Despite the doctors’ attempt to save her life, her condition failed to improve and she died on 25th April.
The revealed that her cause of death was mycoplasma pneumonia septicemia that led to hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy with multiple organ failure. They dispelled the rumours that Brenda was in a coma and life support as earlier alleged.
The family asked for prayers and privacy during this difficult time as they mourn their loved one.
