Deputy President William Ruto has gifted a 500-chicken farm to the family of the two siblings who have been trending in a viral video of them fighting over a Ksh10 pencil and eraser budget.
The duo, Teresiah Wakinyua and James Mwangi who were along with Nyandarua County Woman Representative Faith Gitau at the DP’s Karen home.
Taking to Twitter, the DP said he encouraged them not to give up and to go after their dreams while also stating they reminded him of his past life as a child growing up in the rural areas with limited resources.
“Teresiah Wakinyua and James Mwangi from Kwa Nganga village in Nyandarua County, remind us of our childhood in our rural homes; the daily challenge of budgeting for so little in the face of many needs,” the DP wrote.

Ruto along with another chicken farmer joined forces to provide the family with a sustainable source of livelihood that will see the parents raise their children comfortably.

To this, they gifted them 500 chickens.
The second in command of this country also blessed the mother of a young girl that recited him a poem earlier this year.

Abilasha Muthoni recited a moving poem for the DP on Friday, March 6, 2020.
The young lady asked the DP to help her clear her pending school fees, a promise that the DP made and fulfilled.
DP Ruto lauded Abilasha and her the mother for their resilience by gifting the mother a new taxi that will keep them afloat as Abilasha’s education was now guaranteed.
