The Accra High Court has ruled in the favour of ace journalist and the editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, a defamation suit filed against outspoken MP, Kennedy Agyapong.

Kennedy Agyapong is reported to have levelled serious and image-denting allegations against Kweku Baako in the past. He is said to have accused the journalist of being a galamsey operator [illegal miner – an offence punishable by a 15 to 25 year-jail term] and “corrupt and dishonest” in his dealings.

The Accra High Court yesterday, June 26 awarded Kweku Baako with GHC 100,000 damages with GHC 30,000 cost payable by Kennedy Agyapong.

In addition, Kennedy Agyapong is expected to retract and apologise three times on the platforms he used to defame Kweku Baako in the next 30 days.

Kennedy Agyapong who is known as a “hard guy” who speaks his mind without fear or favour is yet to carry out the second aspect of the ruling.

Do you think he will do it? Well, he doesn’t have a choice, does he?
