China Topples Over Ghana & South Africa As World’s Leading Exporter Of Gold

China surpassed Ghana and South Africa to become the biggest gold exporter in 2020. According to data from the Ghana Chamber of Mines.

The Asian country was able to export 368 metric tons of gold in the provided year, according to the data. Ghana, on the other hand, was only able to ship 114 metric tons, while South Africa came in second with 91 metric tons.

Ghana was Africa’s biggest gold exporter on a continental scale. This is despite the fact that Ghana’s overall gold production fell somewhat from 2019 to 2020.

In terms of industrial performance, gold fields Ghana was the leading exporter after recording the largest amounts of output for the previous year among Ghanaian mining businesses.

According to data from the Ghana Chamber of Mines, it accounted for around 18% of gold produced last year, followed by Newmont, which had 18%.

These findings come on the heels of Ghana’s war against the plague of illicit mining, which has eaten its way through river bodies and forest belts.
