Body of Missing 24 Year Old Woman Found Dumped in a Pit Latrine in Embu

Police have discovered the body of a 24 year old woman who went missing on 28th June 2023.

Josephine Karimi Simon, a secretary at St Mary’s Catholic Women Association Centre in Kiaragana, Embu county went missing under mysterious circumstances.

Her lifeless body was discovered yesterday in a pit Latrine at the centre.

After her disappearance on Wednesday, her family tried to trace her in vain and her phone had been switched off.

The Catholic priest at the centre informed the family that she had not reported to work on Thursday and the family announced the disappearance in various churches and social media platforms.

On Saturday, Karimi’s father reported the matter to Runyenjes police station and recorded a statement.

Mr Gatumo, the father was worried about his daughter and he complained that she worked alone in a remote location without adequate security.

Yesterday, 3rd, July  he returned to the police station and accompanied the police officers to the centre where they did thorough investigations.

A casual worker at the centre said he knew where Karimi was and that she was safe. He then took the detectives to a pit Latrine where they discovered the lifeless body of the woman.

The casual labourer who is the main suspect in the murder was taken to the police station for further interrogation.

The body of Josephine Karimi was taken to the mortuary for post mortem. The family is crying for justice, demanding to know who took the life of their beloved daughter and the motive behind the murder.
