Over the past few days, you may have seen people say or tweet different variations of the phrase ‘the ting go skrrrr pap pap kak kak kak’
Yeah, we get your confusion. We don’t even know what it’s supposed to mean, but it’s provocative (it actually gets the people going)
Anyway, let’s try to break down how this came about.
So this British-Ghanaian comedian and rapper, Michael Dappah was the guest on BBC Radio 1Xtra’s ‘Fire In The Booth’ where he did a performance as ‘MC Quakez’.
And for the entire 22 minutes of his performance, he gave us lyrics to last a decade.
Watch it here:
When you get to the 10:51 time mark, he says 2+2 is 4 -1 that’s 3 quick maths and we’re like
And the one that everyone is talking about. At 12:17, he blesses us with ‘the ting go skrrrr, pap pap kak kak kak’
Since then, everybody on the internet has been obsessed with ‘the ting goes skrrrrrr’ and we honestly can’t stop saying it.

Some of us are still wondering whether it’s a skit or not.
Whatever it is, ‘the ting is going skrrrrrrr’
