DJ Numz – Leading the Rhumba Explosion in Nairobi’s Party Scene!

The music scene in Nairobi is quickly re-shaping itself with African Rhumba reclaiming its place as the music of choice for a majority of middle-aged Nairobians.

However, one young DJ is bravely challenging perceptions about rhumba being for mature citizens only. DJ Numz is easily and skillfully popularizing rhumba amongst the younger generation through his riveting yet nostalgic mixes.

His music journey began in 2016 when he discovered his passion for African rhythm and beat. DJ Numz definitely has his eyes set on the stars as he dreams to not only become the No. 1 rhumba mix maker in the 254 but in East Africa.

He’s already gaining popularity in the diaspora with followers in Atlanta, Georgia, Germany and Holland following his live shows airing on DJ Numz 254 and ROOM 103 International every weekend.

“I see rhumba becoming the music of choice for Nairobi youth in the next few years because of upcoming hit makers like Fally Ipupa, Ferre Golla and the legend Koffi Olomide keeping up with the music needs of the young generation.

My work as a DJ is to use available platforms to popularize and market great African music. I urge our local musicians and industry leaders to produce more African themed music.”
