Missing Migori Man Returns Home To Find His Burial Ceremony Underway

Residents of East Kamagambo in Rongo, Migori county, are still in shock after a man presumed to be dead returned home to find his burial ceremony underway.

The family of Fred Ochieng, who had been missing for two months, was set to inter a body thought to be his when he showed up.

According to The Standard, the residents who saw him walking home ran away, thinking it was a ghost.

His family took almost 30 minutes to gather the courage to move closer to confirm if it was him. For the two months, he went missing, Ochieng, a boda boda rider, said he had been jailed at Homa Bay County prison for breaking traffic rules.

He was arrested on April 30 and arraigned in court, where he was charged with not having an insurance and driving license. He was slapped with KSh 10 000 fine Being unable to raise the amount as he had no phone, he was sent to jail on May 3.

On Friday, June 11, the youthful man was released when he returned home to find his burial arrangement going on. At his home, cows and goats had already been bought to give him a befitting send-off.

Upon searching for Ochieng in vain, his family was satisfied that a body found in a sugarcane plantation by workers was his and resolved to bury it.
