An Indian contractor with symptoms of Coronavirus has been identified at the Dangote Refinery, Lagos.
According to The PUNCH, the Indian who is a staff of one of Dangote’s contractors was coughing and running a high temperature on Monday.
Doctors were immediately called in and the Indian was rushed to a hospital for testing and diagnosis.
A spokesman for Dangote firm, Tony Chiejina, confirmed the incident but maintained that the Indian was not an employee of Dangote.
He said the person was spotted during one of the routine medical checks at the refinery, adding that the case had not been confirmed.
Chiejina told The PUNCH that the Dangote group remained a strong partner in the fight against COVID-19, adding that the firm had even donated N200m to the fight against the epidemic.
He said a statement would be issued soon and called on all Nigerians to remain calm.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control said on Twitter that it was already investigating the matter.
