Vybez Kartel appealed to be released from jail but he instead got a huge blow.

Incarcerated Jamaican hitmaker Vybz Kartel was dealt a huge blow recently when his appeal was denied, however not all is lost.

According to reports the appeal to release the Dancehall crooner was finally given a verdict by the Court of appeal after two long years of waiting. The verdict being a denial.

Is there hope?

However, there might still be some hope for the release of the Worl Boss as he is popularly referred to.

According to the judge, he is allowing the deejay’s legal team a couple days to submit more material so they can decide on a more appropriate sentence.

Kartel’s lawyer says they may have decided on a reduced sentence.

In her expert opinion, Kartel’s lawyer Valerie Neita-Robertson says she believes they have already decided on a reduced sentence, just not the exact number of years yet, Jamaican entertainment website Urban Islandz reported.

One of his lawyers said:

We are disappointed, but we are prepared to go to the Privy Council

Adidja’ Vybz Kartel’ Palmer was first arrested in September of 2011 for marijuana possession.

While in police custody, the deejay was later charged by Jamaica’s Major Investigation Taskforce with conspiracy, illegal possession of a firearm, and murder.

He was initially facing two murder charges, but in March 2012, he was granted $3 million bail on the first charge for the murder of one Barrington Burton.

After postponement of his trial and a not guilty verdict in the beginning, Kartel got a 65-day murder trial which is reportedly the longest-running in Jamaica’s history.

He was subsequently found guilty by 10 of the 11-member jury. He was convicted along with co-defendants Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Andre St. John, and Kahira Jones in 2014 for the murder of Clive’ Lizard’ Williams.

His guilty verdict led to a life sentence where he was required to serve 35 years before being eligible for parole.

Kartel’s nine-year stint in prison thus far has been plagued with delays and even perceived injustice. His fans from around the world have been calling on the exernornation of the hitmaker.

Meanwhile the mother to the mudered Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams is imploring the justice system not to free her son’s murderer.
