In Kenya, Murang’a traders duped residents.
Closer home, a few weeks back, Murang’a traders duped residents into buying cheap panties disguised as face masks.
The traders cut out women underwear to look like face masks which were then sold to Mathare villagers in Maragua constituency at a cost of KSh 20 each.
The villagers said they were forced to buy the ‘masks’ in a bid to avoid beatings from police officers in Maragua town implementing the government directive.
The locals also asked the government to supply them with the appropriate protective gear to help them avoid contracting or spreading the virus.
