Abena Korkor, a social media phenomenon, has entered into the debate surrounding the actions of LGBTQI+ persons in Ghana.
Abena Korkor chose to join the likes of Sister Derby, Wanluv, Pappy Kojo, and others in their struggle against the stigmatization of Ghana’s LGBT population.
Abena Korkor first published a petition on her Instagram profile calling on the Ghanaian Parliament to reject the homophobic anti-LGBT law presented by Sam George and seven other MPs.
The MPs’ draft proposes to criminalize LGBT activities in Ghana and punish anyone who speaks positively about or supports the LGBT community.
In her second post, Abena Korkor shared a music video by Angel Maxin which features Sister Derby and Wanlov the Kubolor to throw her full support against the criminalization of LGBT activities in Ghana and suggested that she could be one of such people.
She captioned that one:
“I know a lot of people personally who are born this way. You never know I might be one. There are amazing people who deserve every right to live in peace so they can contribute productively to society. #lgbtqlivesmatter,”
