In Ghana it is considered to be a disgrace and abomination for one to get pregnant before marriage.
This statement has been re-iterated by veteran Ghanaian Gospel star, Diana Asamoah. During an interview with Kumasi-based Hello FM, Diana Asamoah said it is a disgrace for a woman to give birth before marriage.
“There are rumours that I am pregnant and that is not true. In fact, I can’t get pregnant and give birth without first marrying.
It will be big disgrace for me or any woman to get pregnant and give birth out of wedlock which I will never do.”
The Gospel artiste was also asked about when she would be ready to settle down with a man. In response she said,
I am not in a haste to get married. I am waiitng for the Lord to give me a man when the time is right. I am not in a competition to give birth.
With my protruding belly, it is not because I am preganant. It is due to some Banku and Okro soup I ate which resulted in the expansion of my belly,” she said.
