The nominees for the 22nd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards have been announced. The announcement was broadcast on TV3 and via Charterhouse Live on social media. The Afro Harmony Band, Eno Barony, Kobby Salm and Efe Grace, Adina and Epixode, Mr. Drew, and Mister Okyere all performed during the hour-long gathering.
Adina Thembi made history at the end of the announcement when she became the first woman to receive ten individual nominations and one featured nomination, bringing her total hits at VGMA22 to eleven. This feat is only matched by Ebony, who received seven posthumous nominations in the 19th Edition in 2018, winning four of them, including the coveted Artiste of the Year award, making her the first female to do so.
The highlife, afropop singer, songwriter joined the VGMAs in 2018 with just a single nomination – female vocalist which she won and subsequently been featured ever since, but has never really made it into the history books until this year. Her nominations for the 22nd edition of the VGMAs are as follows;

To top it for the females, it is also the first year 2 Ladies have been nominated in the Artistes of the Year Category since the inception of the scheme. Adina Thembi and Diana Antwi Hamilton become the first two women to attain this feat. It is indeed a good year for the females in the industry.
