Willis Raburu: Why I quit Citizen TV after 13 years

After an incredible 13-year journey at Royal Media Services (RMS), Willis Raburu, a renowned media personality, has announced he will be taking a break to review his future endeavors.

As of the end of June 2023, Raburu says he will step back from his current roles while he explores new opportunities and directions.

Speaking to Nairobi News, the veteran journalist said the break is to explore new opportunities as a journalist and entertainer.

“It has not been an easy decision to make but the company has held my hand through all this,” he said.

“I am immensely grateful for the past 13 years I have spent with Royal Media Services. It has been a remarkable journey filled with growth, opportunities, and unforgettable moments. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the entire team for their support and guidance throughout my career,” he said.

During this week he will be bidding his loyal fans farewell on all his 6 shows at the RMS stable.

During his tenure at RMS, Willis Raburu has been an influential figure in the media industry, continuously pushing boundaries and fostering positive change.

His impactful contributions have solidified his position as a youth leader and garnered a loyal following across various platforms.

One of Raburu’s notable achievements was hosting the immensely popular and groundbreaking show, “10 over 10,”

“I have grown both in my career and in mind. I have compiled my 13 years in a book called, Undefined’.”

Reflecting on his remarkable journey, Raburu shared his humble beginnings as an intern at the company, transforming into one of the station’s top journalists over the years.

“In the past few weeks, starting from June, I’ve had the chance to deeply contemplate various aspects of my life. Gratitude has emerged as a recurring theme for me. I am immensely thankful to all those who have accompanied me on this 13-year journey. Throughout my time in the media, I have engaged in various roles, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to pursue what I love,” Raburu expressed.

During his stint at RMS, Raburu served as a television reporter, news anchor, entertainment show host and radio presenter.
