Award-winning Kenyan Boy Band Sauti Sol has been forced to clear the air on reports of breaking up after announcing a ‘Small hiatus’.
Speaking during the Stanbic Yetu Festival Presser, Polycarp Otieno said, that the statement they put out had been interpreted differently by fans hence the need to clear the air.
At the same time, the Band affirmed that all the businesses established under their wings will continue running smoothly.
The statement was backed up by Boyz II Men who also disclosed that they took a 2 year hiatus as a group.
“It’s been an amazing journey It’s been 15 years and we just need to step back a bit.
“We are not quitting music or breaking up. There is a lot of misinterpretation of the statement we put out. It’s just a small hiatus. We just feel like we need a very small break.
All the business, the record label will still be running and we just feel that we need to take this small break,”.
Savara further stated that they are looking forward to signing more young talents to their record label – Sol Generation.
Sauti Sol will be performing tonight at the Stanbic Yetu Festival which will be going down at Uhuru Gardens from 4 pm.
The Festival is being headlined by legendary RnB group Boyz II Men who have promised to stage an electrifying performance as the headliners of the concert.
In May, Sauti Sol announced that they will be taking an indefinite break from working as a group.
The group’s performance at the Stanbic Yetu Festival in Nairobi on June 10, which will be their second last show in Kenya, as a group.
Their final show in the country will be at the third annual Sol festival in December.
In a statement on Saturday, the band said this will start after the scheduled world tour that will see them perform in various countries across Europe and America.
“The upcoming tour across the US, Europe, and Canada is a chance for fans to immerse themselves in the magic of Sauti Sol one last time before the band takes a break from group projects for a while. Each performance will be infused with a sense of deep love and gratitude as the ensemble delivers their timeless hits and fan favourites that have left an indelible mark on our collective memories,” they said.
“While the indefinite hiatus marks the end of a specific chapter, it also represents a new beginning for Sauti Sol.”
The band insisted that their friendship and shared vision continue to be the driving force behind their future projects.
