Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s bubble was hilariously burst during the 2022 Kalasha International Film and TV Awards when he tried to meet his long-time celebrity crush.
The legislator took the lectern to make his brief speech which he started by showing off his flamboyant Swahili-speaking skills.
“Mheshimiwa Waziri Ababu Namwamba, itifaki zote zikizingatiwa…” started Sifuna before being interjected by cheers from the dazzled crowd.
Shortly after the hype had died down, Sifuna went on with his speech saying that he honoured the invitation to the convocation in high hopes that he would meet his long-time celebrity crush, actress Sarah Hassan.
“I admit that I accepted this invitation because I really wanted to meet the lady who has troubled my heart for many years, her name is Sarah Hassan,” he said.
Sifuna had barely blinked across the auditorium when a lady roared from the crowd saying “sisi ndio tuko”. The crowd burst out laughing leaving the Senator no choice but to switch gears to a different topic.
This year’s event, held at the Safari Park Hotel on Saturday night, was the 12th edition of the Kalasha Awards and recognised the best individuals and stars in the film industry.
