Award-winning Kenyan Gospel singer Mercy Masika has opened up on how her faith and prayer led her to meeting her husband.
Masika says she prayed on it and asked God to show her her husband and voila, they met only one week later.
The ‘Mwema’ hitmaker said she met the man of her dreams – David Muguro – the year after graduating from campus, and got married to him one year later.
Speaking to Cynthia Mwangi on Citizen Digital’s ‘Behind the Mic’ show, the songstress recalled how, before meeting her husband, she dated lots of people, especially ministers.
“I asked God to show me the person and funny enough, we met the next week and I knew on the first day that he was the one. A lot of people have messed up by not marrying the right people towards what God wants you to achieve. I was intentional about the prayer, so we got married. It was a beautiful wedding and we got three children,” she said.
The renowned Gospel artiste describes herself as an introvert while growing up in a household of preachers, which she says made her intentional about her faith.
“I was a bit boring growing up compared to now. I was a serious introvert, because I was always alone. My parents were ministers, they did lots of evangelism when we visited places. I found myself looking for places where I would be alone. I was always serious about God, there is a satisfaction I got from knowing God at a tender age,” she stated.
She goes on to narrate how the COVID-19 pandemic period changed her entire view of life, adding that the lockdown period taught her that life happens to everyone; no matter their stature in life.
“For us musicians, there was no performances, nothing was happening for almost two years, it made me realize that life is real, there is no need to be proud. I learnt from Covid that I am not that special, I am just like everyone else,” she added.
