Khaligraph Jones Narrates Getting D+ In High School After Dropping Out For 3 Years

Khaligraph Jones, one of Africa’s top rappers, has opened up on the tough times he went through before he finally made it in life.

The rapper spoke to Buzz Central about his latest EP, Invisible Currency in which he raps about the challenges they faced growing up in Kayole.

According to Khali, he opened up on his early childhood and education so people could understand that he never had it easy in life.

“Sometimes people see me on TV and think I had a good life since the beginning, but that is not true. We went through some things at some point in our lives and were on the verge of breaking down,” said the rapper

Adding that putting God first and believing in himself got him through the dark times.

In the song, Mama’s Prayers, Khali opened up on how they lacked rent but were turned away when they sought help from relatives.

The Blue Ink Records head honcho, who has mentored many upcoming rappers, also raps about his late father battling lifestyle diseases dropping out of school after sitting his KCPE exams.

However, after three years, Khali joined high school and scored a D+ in his KCSE exams.

Explained why he decided to go back to school, he said:

“It was not a must for me to go back to school, but I felt I had to do it. I am the fourth born in a family of six, and I am the first to finish high school and had to break that generational curse.”

The rapper, who keeps his family matters under wraps, said he felt the need to speak about his private life as he is now a father.

“It is all about growth. At the point where I am, I can elaborate on these issues properly because I am a father.”
