Jay Melody: I Wrote ‘Njiwa’ And ‘Hallelujah’ For Willy Paul, ” Zilikuwa Nyimbo Zangu zote”

Tanzanian Bongo Star Jay Melody has revealed that he wrote some of Kenyan Musician Willy Paul’s biggest songs.

Speaking With Mzazi Willy M Tuva, Jay Melody said at that time he was just starting his career and he was writing songs for big artists as a business.

The fast rising Singer said he completely wrote ‘Njiwa’ and ‘Hallelujah’ for Willy Paul.

” I was working with THT so I didn’t meet with Willy Paul in person. I wrote ‘Njiwa’ and ‘Hallelujah’ from scratch and it was a complete song with melodies and everything. Willy Paul paid THT and I was paid.”

The songs opened great opportunities for him and big artists noticed him and his career as a songwriter kicked off.

” I have written big songs for artists such as Nandy, ‘Nitadata’ by Nadia Mukami, ‘Kivuruge’, ‘Hazipo’, ‘Do Me’, I have written so many songs, some of them have not been released.

Speaking about challenges, he said that most artists don’t like admitting that they didn’t write the songs themselves, the credit they receive as songwriters are minimal and the pay is not good.

The ‘Nakupenda’ hit maker started his career as a musician not long ago and since then he has produced several hit songs.
