Daddy Owen Mourns Cousin Who Was Shot Dead On Sunday

Gospel singer Daddy Owen is mourning the death of his first maternal cousin, Stephen Sunrise Osedo who was shot dead by a cop officer in Umoja.

The police officer was Sunday, November 13, arrested after the incident.

Daddy Owen described his cousin as a social person who was loved by many.

“He has left a wife and his two children. We are still in disbelief but we are sure justice will prevail. He is our first cousin and we grew up together,” Owen said.

“He was a footballer, very social, and a football coach in Umoja and Dandora.”

Owen said as the family awaits justice, he will seek justice by all means.

Owen said they visited Buruburu police station and the OCS, Mr. Matheka said the matter is under probe.

“The only report is from the eye-witness but they are doing further investigation. The suspect is admitted at Kenyatta hospital after he was mugged by the public.”

The body with a single gunshot wound on the head was moved to the City mortuary. A postmortem will be conducted today at the City mortuary.

Cases of police being involved in crime have been increasing and are a worrying issue for the new government.

Police have internal mechanisms to deal with such reported cases including using their own to investigate them, and use of the Internal Affairs Unit and Independent Policing Oversight Authority.

Dozens of police officers are facing various cases in court but police term the cases as isolated incidents.
