Awinja Rubbishes Criticism Over Her New Music Video Says ‘Ni Kelele Ya Chura’

Kenyan actress cum comedian Awinja has hit back at negative critics amid the release of her Valentine’s song ‘Sio lazima’.

Awinja revealed during an interview with Radio Maisha that the negative comments about her song do not concern her and that her purpose in life is to have fun.

The former ‘Papa Shirandula’ actress also said that music is a broad art form and it is expected that people would have differing opinions.

“Kelele ya chura haimzui ng’ombe kukunywa maji…nilisema as long as I’m having fun, iyo ingine hainihusu, lakini siezi wa-blame, sisi ni binadamu na kila mtu ana options zake especially when it comes to music,” said Awinja.

According to Awinja, the entertainment industry encompasses various arts, including acting, music, and drawing, among others, hence it is not too farfetched that she decided to venture into it.

She added that music was on her bucket list.

“Nikitoka niingia kwa politics ndio ni ya kushtua lakini hii muziki bado iko kwa entertainment industry…It’s just one of those things nilijiambia nitajaribu siku moja nione,” Awinja said.

On whether she is planning to venture into music long-term, Awinja says she has yet to plan that far.

“Sitaki kuzungumzia future, kitu najua ni leo, naeza wa-surprise, kesho sijui, sina habari na siwezi pangia,” she said.

Awinja released her music video ‘Sio Lazima’ last Wednesday.
