Police in Koreni, Lamu County have arrested five people ferrying 246 rolls of bhang estimated to be worth over Ksh.250,000.
The 3 men and 2 ladies were aboard a Toyota station wagon plying the Minjila-Mokowe route when police officers flagged it down following a tip-off from a member of the public.
“With learned precision, the officers immediately swung into action, setting up a roadblock at Koreni area where they flagged down the vehicle, a metallic grey Toyota Voxy,” read a police report issued Thursday.
The vehicle was then escorted to Mokowe Police Station where a thorough search of occupants and the vehicle was conducted, revealing the consignment which was stashed in a suitcase and inside a refashioned spare tyre.
“Officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Hindi are currently handling the case with the intention of preferring appropriate charges to the suspects,” the police added.
