Ghanaian midfielder, Michael Essien has escaped jail time in Indonesia by the skin of his teeth.
According to reports, the former Black Stars midfielder and Chelsea star and teammate, Carlton Cole were brought before the professional Sports Agency after it was discovered that they featured in their debut games for their club without having work permits.
After questioning them, the agency decided to ban them until they receive the appropriate work permits that’ll allow them to ply their trade in Indonesia.
Indonesia has very strict immigration laws and punishments for flouting these laws can be harsh with fines of up to £30,000 and 5 years of imprisonment.
