Ever seen a 4-year old genius?
Daliyah Marie Arana is one such child. She loves to read and she remembers everything she reads. She has covered over 1000 books so far.
When she was a baby, Daliyah would hear her older brother reading chapters of books out loud. And by the time she was 18 months old, she had already begun to recognize the words in the books her mother read her.
Her mother, Haleema Arana, told The Washington Post.
“She wanted to take over and do the reading on her own. It kind of took off from there. The more words she learned, the more she wanted to read.”
Wow…..if only I had such zeal when I was a kid.
When she was 2 years and 11 months old, Daliyah read her first book on her own
Now she’s 4 years old, and as her age mates are playing with dolls and watching cartoons, Daliyah has read more than 1,000 books.
She even reads college-level books sometimes, according to her parents. She is said to be a regular at her home town library in Gainesville.
She told reporters.
“I like to check out books every day. And I want to teach other kids to read at an early age, too.”
Daliyah aims to have reached 1,500 books by the time she enters kindergarten in the next few months. She also hopes to help her teacher to teach the other kids how to read.
