The Orishas (deities)  are an integral part of the Yoruba culture. All of the Yoruba deities play important roles in many aspects of daily life.

The Yoruba people can be found in Nigeria, Togo, Benin republic, South America and some Carribean Islands. In Nigeria, they are considered one of the main tribes.

The Yoruba deities play specific functions in the god pantheon. For example, Esu (the devil) is the deity responsible for many calamities that befall a person.

Ever envisioned the deities in human form?

Well, photographer James C. Lewis did. He is paying tribute to Orishas through art and illustrations.
