Weekends can be pretty boring especially when you don’t plan ahead and when you have no idea of what to do.
For many Kenyans, keeping fit is now a customary hobby and not just one of those things that ends up on our new year’s resolution list and ends up never being ticked off.
Weekends are perfect for for some sporty activities as you have more free time to work out and get your hamstrings, biceps and abs on!
Here are sporty activities you can get up to over the weekend in Kenya:
1. Rock climbing
Rock climbing is not for the faint-hearted. However, you could start with a less tedious indoor rock climbing experience at Climb Blue Sky to give you an idea of what to expect and there after, participate in one of their outdoor rock climbing activities.
2. Trail biking
Riding a bike is a great exercise and thankfully, you do not have to travel far from town to do that. Karura forest in Nairobi offers bike riding services. You could chose to carry your own bike or hire one from the forest and enjoy a nice ride in the forest.
3. Water rafting
If you’re an adrenaline rush chaser, then you should head over to Rapids Camp in Sagana for some white water rafting action.
4. Wind/Kite Surfing
If you’re into water sports such as tubing, jet skiing, paddling, kayaking, kite surfing and wind surfing, you could travel to Diani at the coast for some water sports action. If you do not have the gear such as a surf board, you can always rent it at the many surfing centres in Diani, such as H2O-Extreme Diani Beach.
Walking also makes for a great exercise especially if you’re into a more subtle form of exercise. Head over to Karura forest or Oloolua Nature Trail for a peaceful walk or run.
Go out and experience Ngong Hills or Mt. Longonot in all its beauty. Hiking is tiring but the view from above is worth every sweat!
8. Horse-back riding
Head out for some bow and arrow action at Nairobi Archery Club and perfect your skills at hitting the ‘target’.
10. Ice Skating
Ice skate at Panari Sky Centre with friends. It’s fun filled yet sporty enough to burn some calories!
