What does it mean to have a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star? Basically you have to be famous and have a lot of money.

A celebrity must write an application confirming that

a) they want a star and

b) they will attend the unveiling ceremony if their application is accepted.

They should then attach the application with a $30,000 fee (about Ksh 3,000,000). But that’s not all.

You also have to be famous for at least five years, and have, “unchallengeable” expertise in a core entertainment category—television, movies, radio, live theatre and music. Reality and Internet stars are not allowed. As the Walk of Fame Selection Committee Chair Vin Di Bona famously said about Kim Kardashian, “She needs to get a real acting job then come to us.”

So basically Lupita has all of that and is willing to pay Kshs 3,000,000 to have her name written on the ground as a tourist attraction for many years to come. Her flex game is on 100, all other socialites step aside.

The Kenyan-Mexican actress will join the likes of Alan Arkin, Kristen Bell, Daniel Craig, Robert De Niro, Guillermo del Toro, Anne Hathaway, Tyler Perry and Gena Rowlands who were selected in the films category.
